More to invest and the blogs

Covid 19 cases are increasing in Ontario. Now only 10 people can be gathered in a place. Stock market went down last week.

New buys

I bought few shares of BCE for my TFSA. There was some accumulated dividends in the RRSP, which I reinvested to buy Riocan shares (REI.UN).

In Canada, BCE is one of the blue chip companies. It will give an annual dividend of $3.25 per share. My idea is to receive enough dividends to do DRIP

REI.UN pays monthly distribution. Price of the shares went down during the pandemic. The plan is to create the income to DRIP to gain more units.

Finance blogs

I am a regular reader of the my own advisor. I learned about DIY investing and dividend investing basics from that blog.

Another interesting blog is Mr. Money Mustache, or in short MMM.

Then I stumbled on another blog this week; It has an interesting name!

Reversethecrush.com  I haven't read many posts from this one yet. The style is interesting. Author says his blog is an online business. It looks like the blog is making some income from advertisements.

RRSP or TFSA? Which to choose?

I DIY investing is mostly with CIBC. They have a platform to start TFSA and RRSP.

At first, I was thinking about investing in RRSP alone. If you think of your RRSP room and tax refunds, you will do that too.

When I was having part-time jobs, I had to pay taxes on income. A little bit of research made me understand taxes withheld was not correct. Each employer was cutting the tax based on what they paid me. So, I was like, okay, I will put money in RRSP. That worked.

Then, I happened to read books and blogs on TFSA. It has a big potential!  You can have your money grow thee without worrying about taxes in the future. If you are making hourly wages and it is not a big amount, it is good to have TFSA. The money withdrawn from TFSA is not considered as your income. But RRSP withdrawals are considered as your income and that will make you receive less benefit from the government.

So, I changed strategy and think more of TFSA now a days.

I started with investing in ETFs. Now I am more interested in investing in dividend paying stocks.

An important thing for every one to know about TFSA: if you invest in US companies, then dividend tax is withheld. For Canadian stocks, the dividend is not taxed.

DIY investing

Hi all,

I stopped doing crafts.

Way too busy with dental assisting now a days.

My goals also changed.

I started taking care of my own investments. It is getting better every day.

I learn to to stock trading. I learned to do my own RRSP and TFSA. That is pretty cool, isn't it?

No one is more interested about your money than you!

So, my strategy is to do dividend investing.  Will it work? No one knows!

But for time being I am happy and proud of being my own investment guru.

When you invest money, you want it to grow. You love to see some returns from your investments. You want your money to grow.

So, why don't you collect some dividends from the companies you invest in?

I learned that all banks offer DIY investment options.

So I registered with my bank to invest in my RRSP.

It is very simple. You can do it online. If you give a call to the help line, the bank will be eager to help you.

So that is how I did!

Stopping crafts

I haven't been to the blog for over a year.
Think is I stopped crafting.
My little house looks much better. I started working again.
Dear Daughter is in university and staying out of home.
It was hard at first, and got used to now.
Now a days I don't complain about working. It is great to keep working.
I still have my craft supplies. But donated many things to friends.
It made me happy. Closed my Etsy store too. It was a big relief.
Yes, life has to go on....

When nothing else to be done...

I am Bored...
They day is dull...
Then I started cutting an old blue t-shirt.
It became yarn.

Lovely1 isn't it?
I stretched it a bit with my hand. With a big hook, crocheted a rectangle and added a loop too.

Crocheting with T-shirt yarn is very comfortable for my hands. I used double crochet stitches.
The foundation is 9+3 chains.
The problem with using my own T-shirt is I won't get much yarn to complete a big project.

When the inspiration hits...

It is already November... Can you believe it?
Aren't i suppose to make Christmas cards? Crochet something for winter???
Not really.
I made cards, but not Christmas cards
What you think?
Found 3 cute birds on an old calendar. Then I cut them, and made them two. On a second thought, I am thinking, I could have embossed it too.

This one is simple. I used paint and brush to write "Love"
I think, the leaves add a special touch to it. Both cards can be framed. Or can be displayed on the bookshelf.
What would you do if you receive one of it?
