Very Crafty day projects and a Mixed Media Art

Last week was a lot of work... Did I tell you my daughter is starting college this year? We dropped her off at the dorm this weekend. Finally, me too an empty nester.
It is kind of bittersweet experience. I am missing her and I am happy she is going to study more. You know what I mean?

Back to blogging:
A set of beads were waiting for some kind of inspiration. Pink ribbon, and clear beads: Just a project for the BinduDesigns Blog. Not a mixed media work though.
I feel like playing with colours after organizing my storage room.
So, picked up this old project , (you can see the last picture there).

Worked on that, and added more colour:
When I just close the eye, I can see this bright circles... I kind of made that in this mixed media project. I used fabric paste, acrylic paints, and water color to get it done. It still needs my signature crochet piece. Used few stencils (made by me) to create the background.
Sometimes, when I feel like it, I have to go on making. That is why the washclothes got some paint on them.
I have a butterfly stencil:

I put the washcloth out and stamped butterfly on it. Nothing fancy, just experimenting. Used craft acrylic paint for that.
Thinking, to stitch on top of it...
It will be interesting, right?
I did an upcycle project too. You guess it, it is mixed media project. The show and tell will be another day.

Niagara in March

Weather forecast said Sunday will be great...So we started preparing for an out of Toronto trip. Even though getting up early felt like a difficult task, we were all ready by 7.30 AM.  It was a bit cold at Niagara Falls, but not too much.

Journey Behind the Falls was the first thing we did. Because it was the winter season, and we were so early we were among the first in the tunnels. Not all the viewpoints were available in the winter, but it felt like we were the only ones in the tunnels. Going behind the Falls to witness the power of water is something I recommend. Just take the time to see and hear.

Next we went to the Fury of the Falls, a simulated movie through the history of the falls.Like most simulated movies, they spray water at you, but this one also blew snow. There's not too much movement, so you can take your kids.
After lunch we went to the Butterfly Conservatory. Remember my craze for them?

It was amazing! It's quite a sight to see the butterflies fluttering around in the greenhouse, unbound by the paths like we are. There was also a turtle sitting still on a rock in a stream, but the butterflies where what captured me!

The next stop was the famous Floral Clock. I have to admit that winter is not a good time to see that one, but it was relaxing without anybody else there. Time seemed to slow down ... ironically.

After sitting at the edge of the Floral Clock, we traveled further along the road and stopped whenever there was a scenic view.
In one place we found a cannon and this sign on a nearby rock. I didn't expect to see this!

Further down the edge, there was this stone labelled TOUR on it, seemingly out of nowhere. Interesting place to find it, but I wish I knew what it meant!

Feeling tired but happy, we are back at home.
